SEGA announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis at this year's Tokyo Game Show. The game will be launched on XSX/Xbox One/PC platforms in Europe and America in 2021. For players in Japan, they will be the first to experience the Phantasy Star Online 2 PC closed test at the end of January 2021, and the test will last until early February 2021. At the same time, this popular free online game that is highly anticipated by players will be officially launched on the PC Steam platform, using free game props to pay, and will also launch an exclusive cooperation appearance decoration on the Steam platform.
PSO2 landed on PC steam
Sega recently announced that its large free online game Phantasy Star Online 2 will officially land on the Steam platform on August 5, 2020. It also supports cross-platform online play and Japanese and English subtitles. The official also announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 and Steam will launch exclusive cooperation rewards. Players can log in to Phantasy Star Online 2 on the Steam platform and complete the game's designated goals, and then they can get the appearance of Valve's character themes including Half-Life. Phantasy Star Online 2 is a massively multiplayer online game released on the PC platform in 2012. Players can create characters with a high degree of freedom character customization system and communicate with other players on the Ark.
At the same time, SEGA has prepared exclusive item rewards based on Valve's classic IP for players who are preparing to play Phantasy Star Online 2 on the Steam platform, including the Half-Life series, Team Fortress 2, and Portal series.
January closed test in Japan 2021
Applications are now open and will last until January 4, 2021, and 50,000 places will be provided. Requirements include living in Japan, having an existing PSO2 account, and meeting the hardware requirements for the beta version. There will be two tests-the first is for current players, and their current PSO2 character data will be applied.
It is unclear whether the mainframe version will also undergo a closed test in Japan. Closed tests in other regions have not yet been announced. This may imply that Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will also be available on Steam when it is launched in 2021. After all, SEGA has previously stated: "The new platform that PSO2 plans to join, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis has no reason not to join."
