The Legends of Runeterra 0.9.1 should be arrive in two weeks, and bring some gameplay improvements. Let's see in details below.
This patch focuses on making sure that Legends of Runeterra feels fun. Spending too much time watching an opponent’s spell resolve or a casting animation does play a big part in how the game feels. “Finding the right pacing for the game is a work in progress (and will be for a while),” noted Engineering Manager Riot Exis. “We want interactions to be clear and cool moments to feel cool, but animations shouldn’t make you impatient for the game to get a move on—we’ll keep working to find the right balance.”
LoR quality of life improvements
Improvements were accomplished through an increase in animation speed, removing effect buffers, and decreased action lock-out windows on a variety of components.
Summoning units.
Drawing cards.
Dragging units out to attack.
Playing Fast & Slow spells.
Playing Burst spells.
Initiative token flip at the beginning of rounds.
No adjustments were made to card animations, like Tryndamere leveling up and multiple Draven axes, but the developers are monitoring them for upcoming updates. The 0.9.1 LoR update will also contain “pips” added to cards in the deck builder mode. These were added to help players determine the number of copies owned and not owned, along with owned copies used in a deck and owned copies not used in a deck.
Friend Challenge XP
Last patch, we made a change to friend challenge XP intended to curb win trading via surrender spam, but it was a bit too harsh on players looking to play with friends normally.
For now, we’re increasing friend challenge XP for both wins and losses, but we’re also planning to make more systemic changes in a future beta patch.
Win XP: 100 → 200
Loss XP: 0 → 100
XP gains capped at five wins (unchanged) and five losses per day.
New Additions and Bugfixes
That’s right, the cute dancing minion just above is now going to be featured in LoR. Additionally, new boards are coming for Garen and Jinx, allowing players who are fans of those champions to feel even more connected throughout gameplay. Otherwise, look for a lot fewer bugs in all elements of the game and some solid quality of life changes. For a game still very much in its infancy, Legends of Runeterra has a lot of promise heading farther into 2020. Stay tuned for more exciting updates.
