What’s a Secret Pack in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel?
Secret packs in Master Duel are more rare than secret. There’s only one way to unlock them at launch, but secret packs offer a more focused selection of cards and a higher chance of obtaining desirable ones. Every secret pack is built around a specific card, with eight headline cards of higher rarities. You can get a vague idea of the types of cards in each pack by the stats shown on the pack preview screen, though “vague” is key here. The selection still seems fairly random.
What’s slightly less random is the cards you’ll get. Each pack is guaranteed to get you four of the eight featured cards, and you can preview which eight it includes in the gallery under the main image. Pulls cost 100 Gems, and while you might end up with duplicates, you can always feed those to the crafting machine.
How to Obtain Secret Packs in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel
Before you unlock a secret pack, make sure you have plenty of gems. Each secret pack costs 100 gems to obtain, which is important as whenever you ‘discover’ a pack you only have 24 hours to purchase it before it disappears again. You can purchase as many copies of that pack as you have gems for, but once that timer has run out you’ll have to ‘find’ the pack again to buy more.
Doing either of these things will ‘reveal’ the secret pack for the archetype that card is a part of. If a card is part of multiple secret packs, you will ‘reveal’ all of them at the same time. If you acquire a Super or Ultra rarity card that you already heave ‘revealed’ the secret pack for, the 24 hour timer is reset.
If you open a booster set of ten master packs when you have no secret packs unlocked, you can get anywhere in the range of five to ten different secret packs. Opening master packs gives you random secret packs, as each secret pack has highlighted cards tied to unlocking it, which you get from master packs.
The number of keys you have whilst opening master packs will appear on the top left of your screen, and once you've opened all your packs each secret pack you've unlocked will be shown on the right.
Players have a lot of freedom when it comes to building their decks, and if they ever decide to have a specific kind of card they want. There are chances that when players would generate a card through the deck editing menu. They could unlock a secret pack that is in line with that specific card. That card would unlock the secret pack and players would still have the same options and restrictions to purchasing card packs from the secret pack just like a normal secret pack as mentioned earlier.
