Black Desert Online Cross-play is now live between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which will available on cross-play servers starting Sunday, March 8th for every region.

Black Desert is a popular PC and console massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from Pearl Abyss. The title has received a number of bug fixes and new content over the past several months, but the latest update may be its most significant. Today, we received a press release from the company that said cross-play was being enabled between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The company said, "Starting March 4, Black Desert will receive cross-play support on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Players on both consoles will now be able to explore the world of Black Desert together online." So North American players can only play with those in North America and so on. What's more, the Archer character class and Kamasylvia region have been added to the PS4 version to join up with Xbox One players. Aside from a few odds and ends, both versions should be near identical at this point.

To celebrate the addition of cross-play support, Black Desert will have an in-game event for new and returning Adventurers, which allows them to acquire the Cliff and Awakening weapon boxes through completing special quests. These weapons are incredibly powerful, but can also be exchanged for gold bars! Adventurers can get special rewards, such as Vlak’s Cry and Memory Fragments, by finding treasure chests located in the sea. Adventurers can also look forward to a host of other events to celebrate the newly added cross-play feature!

The open-world MMORPG is going on sale too. From March 4th until March 18th, PSN users can purchase Black Desert at a 25 percent discount and get pearls with a 10 percent discount. These sale prices have been doubled for PS Plus subscribers. Meanwhile, the sale for Xbox One users lasts from March 3rd to March 16th, marking Black Desert’s price down by 50 percent, alongside a 20 percent discount on pearls.
