Dota Auto Chess mod for Value's Dota 2 become popular worldwide, and now ubisoft has its own Auto Chess that called Might & Magic: Chess Royale. It plans to release for mobile and PC on January 30.
Two days ago, Might & Magic: Chess Royale popped up on the Google Play Store for pre-registration, and upon closer inspection, it would appear that this is a title designed to offer large 100-player clashes in the latest take on the auto battle genre, also known as auto chess. Clearly, Ubisoft is keen to get in on the growing auto chess trend, and so has slapped a Might & Magic skin on top of its upcoming auto battler to squeeze out as much nostalgia from the brand as possible.
This follows auto chess - or the 'auto battler' - genre booming from the start of 2019 when Chinese indie developer Drodo Studios made Dota 2 custom game Dota Auto Chess which attracted millions of users in no time at all. That studio signed up with Chinese publisher Dragonest to release a full and official version of the game, which Epic has nabbed as a store exclusive on PC. Meanwhile, Valve has launched its own Dota Underlords title, having failed to woo Drodo to come in-house - though this hasn't managed to retain its players apparently. Meanwhile, League of Legends studio Riot Games is making its own take on the genre in Teamfight Tactics.
Chess Royale pulls heroes from the Might & Magic world, and players can combine units or use heroes to form a team. Like most similar autochess games, all heroes have their own unique abilities, as well as factions. Players will draft heroes, set up a chess board, and play one-on-one battles with different players in the 100 player pool until the last man standing will be crowned as the winner.
There are 99 other players in each match, though it’s not quite clear if being knocked from the match operates like a tournament bracket or, like Tetris Royale, has some sort of system for players to intentionally target one another in a strategic manner. The game borrows a lot from Dota: Auto Chess, Dota Underlords, and Teamfight Tactics. Players must focus on creating powerful synergies between units. But Chess Royale drops the teams and instead has every player fighting for themselves. As in Fortnite or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, you want to outlast everyone else to get the victory.
If you are looking forward for this Might & Magic: Chess Royale, you can play it on January 30. Finally, hope you can enjoy the game.
